If you’re looking for a camera that finds that elusive balance between affordability and the quality of your images, the Canon EOS 6D 20.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera is worth serious consideration. One of the top “must-haves” of a pro’s camera is a full-frame viewscreen and the 6D delivers.
As the name implies, the camera features a 20.2-megapixel, full-frame sensor. At this level, the pictures are detailed and clean. The DIGIC 5 processor creates a platform for a host of features and functionality that you won’t find on many cheaper cameras.
ISO settings range from 100 – 25600. If you need a deep range for extremely low light or extremely bright light, it can be expanded to 102400.
Other Features of the Canon 6.0
- Photo diode Gapless Microlens array
- 1.04 million dot 3-inch LCD

The smartphone app can be used to control the camera settings from a remote location and allowing users to browse and download images, change shooting modes, adjust focus and even snap a photo.

What’s to Like About the Canon EOS 6D
The CMOS sensor is fantastic at reducing noise and low light images are impressive. The light weight makes it easy to handle and the smartphone app is surprisingly functional and accurate. It’s also nice to see full-frame shooting at a reasonable price.
What’s Not to Like
While Canon built the 6D with premium features on the still-frame side, it had to cut corners somewhere and those corners wound up on the video recording specs. Recording levels top out at 1080p, 30fps and it doesn’t record in 4K at all (in case you were wondering if the quality would be better on the end result).
A couple of other things to pick at: The viewfinder range is definitely not 100%, and it would also have been nice to have a longer battery life. Also note this is the international version which ships without Canon’s standard one-year warranty.
Summing Up
The Canon EOS 6D is lightweight and the GPS tracking and built-in WiFi make it a great choice for the photo-sharing enthusiast. Its full-frame functionality at an affordable price make it a good choice for those amateurs looking to step up to the next level.
